NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team won its first game of the season after a 54-39 win over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thiel College at home Saturday afternoon.
Westminster (1-11, 1-5 PAC) went up 13-4 after sophomore

Thiel (1-12, 1-5 PAC) got within three points twice, with the latest coming with 4:15 on the clock in the second quarter, when Jess Vormelker made a layup, cutting the Titans' lead to 16-13. Paige Quinn (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) made a three-pointer with 20 seconds remaining in the first half, extending Westminster's lead to 23-13. Westminster led by the same score at halftime.

Ashley McConahy (New Wilmington, PA / Ellwood City) scored a layup with 3:15 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Kristine Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) led all scorers with 14 points, marking the fifth time this season she has scored in double-digits. Quinn registered 10 points, while classmate
Danielle Dindak (West Homestead, PA / Serra Catholic) had eight. Junior
Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) five points. Dickson tied a career-high with a team-high seven rebounds. Cook added four boards. Quinn also had a game-high four assists and tied with first-year Annie Popoff (Erie, PA / Mercyhurst Prep) with a game-high three steals. McConahy tallied a game- and career-high two blocks.
Westminster will next host Penn. State Beaver on Monday at 6 p.m.
