Men’s Basketball: Armwood Scores Career-High in Titans’ 87-75 Loss at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Freshman Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) led all scorers with a career-high 24 points in the Westminster College men's basketball team's 87-75 loss at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thomas More College Saturday afternoon.
 
Armwood's point total was also the most for any Titan this season.
 
Thomas More (12-7, 9-3 PAC) started the game with a 15-2 lead with 16:03 on the clock. Westminster (5-14, 5-7 PAC) battled back with a 11-1 run, capped off with a three-pointer by Armwood to cut the Saints' lead to 16-13 with 12:01 remaining. Down 25-17 later in the half, the Titans responded with an 8-0 run to tie the game at 25 with 4:47 left. The Saints took another eight-point lead (37-29) with a 12-4 run with less than a minute to go in the half. The Titans, however, took a 5-0 run into halftime and Thomas More led 37-34.
 
In the second half, the Saints remained in front and the Titans got within three points of Thomas More's lead (52-49) with 11:45 remaining, but that would be the closest they would get.
 
Three additional Titans scored in double-digits, including sophomore Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) (11), junior Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) (10), and senior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) (10). Sophomores Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) and Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) added eight and six points, respectively. Domenick also led the Titans with a career-high seven rebounds and dished out a game- and career-high eight assists. Senior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) and Vrabel registered six and five rebounds respectively. Vrabel additionally tied a game-high with a career-high four steals.
 
For the game, Westminster out-shot Thomas More 49.1% (27-55) to 48.1% (26-54). Both teams had 32 total rebounds.        
                                  
The Titans are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Grove City College with a 7:30 p.m. start time.
