GROVE CITY, Pa. – Sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) led all scorers with a career-high 21 points in the Westminster College men's basketball teams' 96-74 loss at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Grove City College Wednesday evening.
Down 28-20 with 7:46 to play in the first half, Westminster (5-15, 5-8 PAC) went on a 9-2 run, capped off by a jumper from freshman
Paolo DePasquale (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) to cut Grove City's lead to 30-29 with 4:13 remaining. Grove City (13-7, 8-5 PAC) remained in front and led 47-38 at intermission.
Westminster got within six points of Grove City's lead (56-50) after a jumper by freshman
Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) with 15:37 on the clock in the second half. The Wolverines, however, pulled away as they out-scored Westminster 40-24 for the remainder of the game.
Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster were sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) (12) and senior
Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) (10). Junior
Coty Gander (Jackson Center, PA / Lakeview) and Armwood added eight points each. The point total was Gander's season-high. Gander also tied a season-high with a game-high two blocks. Domenick tied a game-high and career-high with five made three-pointers. Vrabel, Wallander, Armwood, and freshman
AJ Grant (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) each recorded a team-high four rebounds.
For the game, the Wolverines out-shot the Titans 50.7 % (34-67) to 46.6 % (27-58) and had a 42-33 rebound edge.
Westminster will next host Saint Vincent College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
