LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 81-77, at Saint Vincent College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday.
Westminster (2-9, 2-2 PAC) took its first lead of game after junior
Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) scored a three-pointer with 11:48 on the clock, putting the Titans in front 14-12. Both teams fought for the lead over the next seven minutes. Saint Vincent (8-3, 4-0 PAC) got back in front and took its largest lead of the half, 39-33, with 1:46 on the clock. The Bearcats led, 43-38, at intermission.
The Bearcats were up, 49-42, with less than three minutes into the second half. Westminster battled back with a 14-7 run, capped off with another three by Pozsgai, to tie the game at 56 with 11:57 to go. The Titans took their first lead of the second frame (60-59) after a jumper by sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) with 9:36 to play. Down 77-74 with less than two minutes remaining, Titan sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) tied the game at 77 with a three-pointer with 1:05 left. Saint Vincent regained the lead on its next possession with a jumper and added insurance with two free throws.
Three Titans scored in double-digits, led by Pozsgai with 15 points. Sophomore
Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) scored a season-high 13 points, while senior
Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) netted 11. Domenick and Vrabel scored eight points each. Sophomore
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) led on glass with a game- and season-high nine rebounds, to go along with seven points. Freshman
Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) led the Titans with five assists.
Westminster will next host Grove City College on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m.
