Men’s Basketball: Titans Top W&J, 68-56

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 68-56, against the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents at home Wednesday night.
 
Westminster (4-12, 4-5 PAC) started the game with a 10-0 run with 15:57 remaining in the first half. The Titans had their largest lead of 16 points twice, the latest coming when junior Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) made a layup extending the Titans lead to 27-11 with 7:01 on the clock. The Titans led 36-23 at halftime.
 
Washington & Jefferson (0-16, 0-9 PAC) outscored the Titans 13-6 to begin the second half to cut the Titans' lead to 42-36 with 12:49 remaining. The Titans responded with a 13-3 run and led 55-39 with 8:10 left. The Presidents' would get as close as eight points (63-55) with 2:11 on the clock, but that would the closest they would get.
 
Pilarski led all scorers with 16 points and tied a game-high with a career-best five steals. Sophomore Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) tallied 11 points and had a game- and career-high four blocks. Sophomore Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) and freshman Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) added 10 points each. Domenick dished out a game-high four assists. Junior Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) and freshman AJ Grant (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) registered seven and six points, respectively. Pozsgai led Westminster on the class with eight rebounds. Senior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and sophomore Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) had seven and six rebounds, respectively.
 
Westminster will next play at Chatham University on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start time.
