BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 75-74, at Geneva College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown, despite possessing a double-digit lead at halftime.
Westminster (3-12, 3-5 PAC) was up by 11 twice in the first half with the latest coming when junior
Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) made a layup with 7:35 remaining. The Titans led 43-33 at halftime.
In the second half, the Titans had their largest lead of the game, 59-44, when sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) made a three-pointer with 14:20 on the clock. Geneva (2-13, 2-6 PAC) responded with a 25-9 run to take its first lead of the game after Chaese Vaudrin made two free throws, putting the Golden Tornadoes in front 69-68 with 2:29 remaining. Westminster was unable to retake the lead despite causing a turnover with five seconds left.
Three Titans scored in double-digits, led by sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) who had a career-high 18 points. Sophomore
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) and Pilarski each scored 11. Scott led Westminster on the glass with eight rebounds. Freshman
Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) dished-out a team-high five assists.
Westminster is back in action Wednesday when it hosts PAC foe Washington & Jefferson College (0-15, 0-8 PAC) on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
