BETHANY, W.V. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 77-64, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College Wednesday night.
Westminster (3-11, 3-4 PAC) led 6-2 after back-to-back three-pointers by freshman
AJ Grant (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) and sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) with 18:47 to play in the first half. Bethany (9-5, 5-2 PAC) answered with a 12-0 run to take a 14-6 lead with 15:17 on the clock. The Titans got within three points of Bethany's lead twice, with the latest coming with 3:56 remaining after a three-pointer by senior
Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin). The Bison held a 36-31 halftime lead.
The Titans cut Bethany's lead to 43-41 at the 15:35 mark when Domenick found sophomore
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) for a layup. The Bison extended their lead to 63-47 after a 20-6 run with 10:14 to play and maintained a double-figure lead for the remainder of the game.
Carswell scored a team-high 10 points. Domenick had nine points, while Scott earned eight. Domenick also tied a game-high with a team-high five assists. Senior
Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) and sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) added seven and six points, respectively. Vrabel additionally tied a game-high with a team-best two blocks. Scott led Westminster on the glass with six rebounds, while Carswell and junior
Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) had five each.
Westminster is back in action Saturday at Geneva College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
