PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team split its two matches in the final day of the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational on Saturday.
The Titans (5-14) shutout Brooklyn College, 3-0 (25-19,25-21,25-18) in their first match and lost 3-1, (21-25, 31-29, 25-23, 25-16) against Case Western Reserve University in their second match.
First-year
Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) led the Titan offense with 21 kills combined on the day, including a career-high 12 against Brooklyn. Junior
Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) and senior
Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) added 15 kills combined each. Senior
Tiffany Jackson (Las Vegas, NV / Las Vegas) and Moore each had a team-high four service aces combined. First-year
Shanna Daniels (Edinburg, PA / Billy C. Ryan, TX) and Jackson tallied 40 and 32 assists, respectively.
First-year
Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) topped the Westminster defense with a combined 40 digs. Prybyl earned a match- and season-high 25 digs against Case Western. Slater added a team-high 10 blocks combined.
Westminster will next compete at Geneva College on Tuesday with a start time of 7 p.m.
