Volleyball: Titans Split Two at Home Tri-Match

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team split two matches in its home tri-match Tuesday night. The Titans won 3-0 over Thiel College, their third shutout of the season, and lost 3-0 to Bethany College.

Against Thiel (0-13-0-2 PAC), Westminster started off with a dominant first set win of 25-9, while registering a team hitting percentage of .357.  The Titans completed the shutout with a 25-22 set two win and a 27-25 set three win. Titan sophomore Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) led the offense with a match-high 12 kills, while junior Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) added seven. Senior Tiffany Jackson (Las Vegas, NV / Las Vegas) dished out a team-high 18 assists, followed by first-year Shanna Daniels (Edinburg, PA / Billy C. Ryan, TX) with 10. Jackson and senior Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) each had a team-high two service aces. First-year Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) paced the Westminster defense with a match-high 19 digs, while Prybyl tallied 12. Yoho added three blocks.

Against Bethany (11-5, 3-1 PAC), the Titans were down 1-0 after losing the first set 25-17. Westminster had five match-point opportunities in the second set, but fell 31-29. The Bison clinched the match with a 25-10 win in set three. Yoho and Prybyl had eight kills each. Daniels registered a team-high 17 assists. Moore and Jackson had 11 and eight digs, respectively. Yoho had another team-high three blocks.

Westminster goes to 4-11 overall and 3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

The Titans will next compete at the four-match Carnegie Mellon Invitational, starting on Friday with a 6 p.m. match versus John Carroll University and an 8 p.m. match versus Stevenson University.
