WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost 73-65 at Waynesburg University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest Saturday night.
Westminster (2-6, 2-1 PAC) led by as much as 11 points (18-7) in the first half and was ahead 33-27 at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets (1-6, 1-2 PAC) opened the second half with an 8-2 run to tie the game at 35 with 18:38 on the clock. Waynesburg took its first lead (43-41) since the opening minutes of the game, when DJ Ritchie made a three-point field goal with 15:24 to go.
The Titans continued to battle and regained the lead after freshman
Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) found sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) for a three-pointer, putting the Titans in front 50-49 with 8:44 on the clock.
Westminster was up 61-57 with 4:32 remaining in the game. Waynesburg, however, orchestrated a 16-4 run for the remainder of the game to seal the win.
Armwood led Westminster's offense with 12 points. Sophomore
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) and senior
Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Domenick added nine points off a team-high three three-pointers and had a team-best four assists. Scott tallied a team-high eight rebounds, while junior
Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) had seven boards. Junior
Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) added seven points and a game-high three blocks.
The Titans are back in action when they compete in the Staten Island Tournament in Staten Island, NY starting on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Westminster will start the tournament with a game against the College of Staten Island at 7:30 p.m.
