Football: Titans Run Past the Wolverines for Fifth-Straight Win

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Westminster College football team won its fifth-straight win after a 45-7 victory over the Grove City College Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Saturday afternoon.

Westminster improved to 7-2 overall (6-1 in the PAC), marking the most wins in 15 years, since the Titans went 8-2 in 2000.

The Titans rushed for a team total 206 yards and scored a total of five rushing touchdowns. Sophomore Paul Columbo (Boca Raton, FL / West Boca Raton Community) accounted for three of those scores, one away from tying a school record.

For the game, Westminster out-gained Grove City 343 yards (206 rushing/137 passing) to 108 yards (34 rushing/74 passing). The Titans held an 18-9 first down-advantage.

Westminster led 38-0 at halftime.

Columbo scored the first touchdown from 1 yard out and the second from a 67-yard scamper.

Sophomore Bobby Noble (Greensburgh, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) scored the third touchdown from a 1-yard run. Westminster had a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter after Columbo found freshman Stephen Velazquez (Loxahatchee, FL / William T Dwye) for a six-yard pass, the first touchdown of his collegiate career. Junior Justin Dahl (Cochranton, PA / Maplewood) converted on the extra point.

The Titans extended their lead to 38-0 in the second quarter after Columbo rushed from nine yards out (and an extra point by Dahl), followed by a 36-yard field goal by Dahl.

Sophomore Dominique McKinley (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg-Salem) added a nine-yard touchdown in the third.

Grove City (0-9, 0-7 PAC) scored its lone score with a one-yard touchdown run with four minutes remaining in the game.

Sophomore Max Ungerman (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) led the Titan defense with a career-high 10 tackles, while freshman Miguel Luis (Hollywood, FL / Mater Academy) registered a career-best seven.

Sophomore Todd Jeter (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) and junior Gator Phillips (Deland, FL / Deland) picked off their fifth and third interceptions of the season, respectively. Westminster totaled four interceptions, four sacks, and a fumble recovery.

Westminster will finish its 2015 regular season next Saturday with its Senior Day at home versus Geneva College at 1 p.m.
