Women’s Basketball: Titans Fall to Pitt-Greensburg

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 56-40, to Pitt-Greensburg at home on Monday.

With the loss, Westminster drops to 1-7 overall. With the win, the Bobcats improves to 5-5 overall.

Titan senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) led Westminster with team-highs of 11 points and eight rebounds. Senior Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) and first-year Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) add eight and seven points, respectively. First-year Paige Quinn (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) dished-out a team-high three assists.

After a hard fought first half that saw eight lead changes, where neither team would lead by more than five points, only two points would separate the teams at the break. Pitt-Greensburg led 27-25 at intermission.

The second half would begin much like the first, but this half the Bobcats would maintain the lead. The Bobcats took their first double-digit lead of the game with a 45-35 lead with 7:50 remaining in the contest and did not look back.

Pitt-Greensburg was active on defense creating 24 Titan turnovers and converting those turnovers into 24 points. The Bobcats slightly out-shot the Titans, 33.3% (22-66) to 32.6 % (14-43) and held a 43-36 rebound edge.

Westminster will travel to Carnegie Mellon University on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
