Women's Soccer: Titans Tie W&J, 2-2, in Double OT

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Despite leading 2-0 in the first half, the Westminster College women's soccer team tied 2-2 in double overtime with Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday. The Titans moved to 4-5-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the PAC, while the Presidents moved to 5-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference. All four goals were scored in the first half.

Westminster freshman Krista Edwards (Summerville, PA / Springdale) scored the first goal of the game and her fourth of the season at the 8:35 mark after she received an assist from junior Amanda Turi (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) and junior Maggie Nikituk (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny). Freshman  Lizzie Barnhart (Meadville, PA / Saegertown) then scored her first collegiate goal at the 15:44 mark after she received a touch pass in the box from Edwards and Nikituk.

The Presidents tied it 2-2 as they scored two goals in two minutes late in the first half. Holly Shipley scored her 12th goal of the year (38:00) and Dawn Murphy scored her sixth goal of the season (30:59).

Westminster senior goalkeeper Jenn Cantella (Freedom, PA / Freedom) earned a game-high seven saves.

For the game, Washington & Jefferson outshot the Titans 20-7 and had a 3-2 corner kicks advantage.

The Titans are back on the field Saturday as they host Geneva at 6 p.m.
