NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The first goal of the season for the Westminster College women's soccer team was all it needed to win its first match of the season by defeating visiting La Roche, 1-0, Tuesday night in a nonconference match held at Harold Burry Stadium. The Titans improve to 1-4-1 on the season and La Roche drops to 2-2-3.

Junior midfielder Maura Miglioretti (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) scored her third career goal for the game-winner in the 37th minute on an assist from senior midfielder Shanay Phillian (New Castle, Pa. /Wilmington).

The Titans outshot the Redhawks 21-2 as junior goalkeeper Jenn Cantella (Freedom, Pa./Freedom) made two saves for her 12th career shutout which ties her with Whitney Griffin for fourth place on Westminster's all-time list for career shutouts.

Westminster hosts Baldwin-Wallace Saturday at 3 p.m.
