MARIETTA, Ohio - The Westminster College women's soccer team defeated host Marietta, 3-1, Sunday morning in the consolation game of the Marietta Soccer Classic. The Titans, now 3-1-1 on the season, finish in third place at the weekend tournament.
The Titans came back from a 1-0 deficit with as freshman midfielder Eliza Gibbs (Holladay, Utah/Highland) scored her first career goal in the 34th minute on an assist from senior forward Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard).
Adams netted the game-winner in the 70th minute on an unassisted goal shot from 10 yards out. Gibbs later assisted on a goal by sophomore Emily Fitchwell (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) late in the game.
The Titans out-shot the Pioneers, 24-13. Marietta is now 0-3 on the season.ÂÂ
Adams and sophomore forward Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) made the all-tournament team.
Westminster plays at Penn State-Behrend Saturday at 1 p.m.
