Women's Soccer: Titans Go Scoreless as Two Weekend Losses Snap Eight-Match Win Streak

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Westminster women's soccer team saw its eight-match win streak snapped with two losses during a weekend road trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. The Titans suffered their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss of the season against first-place Thomas More, 2-0, on Saturday in a match held at Xavier University. Westminster then lost 2-0 in a non-league match at Mount St. Joseph on Sunday.

The Titans' record drops to 10-5-1 overall and 3-1 in the PAC.

Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) made four saves against Thomas More and seven vs. Mount St. Joseph. The Titans out-shot Thomas More, 22-11, but were out-shot by Mount St. Joseph, 15-8.

Thomas More's Brittany Jones and Kandice Eckerlin scored unassisted goals in the 70th and 71st minutes to propel the Saints (11-6, 5-0 PAC) to the victory.

Mount St. Joseph's Sarah Thaxton netted the game-winner for the Lions (10-6) in the sixth minute, before Jessey Spradlin added a late insurance goal in the 85th minute.

Westminster has averaged 4.7 goals in its 10 wins this season, but the Titans have just one goal in their five losses and one tie.
