Breanna McDonough joined head coach Tammy Swearingen's staff in June 2026, bringing extensive Division I playing experience and a strong background in coaching and student-athlete leadership to New Wilmington. McDonough was a captain at Jacksonville, where she competed in both indoor and beach while helping foster team culture and mentor younger student-athletes. She earned Second Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) honors in 2024 and 2025 and was named to the ASUN All-Academic Team in 2025.
As a team captain at Jacksonville, she helped lead the Dolphins both on and off the court, including coordinating team branding and producing videos to support team fundraising efforts. Her experience as a dual-sport athlete in indoor and beach has given her a broad perspective on the game and the demands placed on collegiate student-athletes.
In addition to her collegiate playing career, McDonough has built extensive coaching experience through Team Kiwi Volleyball Club and Berkeley Prep. camps. She has coached three youth teams, led a two-day clinic, provided private instruction and worked with campers ages 8-18. She also served as an assistant coach with Team Kiwi in 2025, where she helped coach three youth teams, marketed private lessons and managed a two-day club clinic.
Active in student-athlete leadership and community service during her time at Jacksonville, McDonough served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches and athletic administrators, advocating for student-athlete welfare and inclusion.
McDonough earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Jacksonville in 2026. She also volunteered with memory care programs and youth camps for children with disabilities.Â
