Westminster falls to Franciscan

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) decision to Franciscan Wednesday afternoon. 

Franciscan locked in the doubles point before sophomore Megan Blasko (Mercer, Pa., Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) and freshman Amayah Myricks (Canton, Ohio, Jackson) won 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2 doubles against Sophia Pastura and Elizabeth Swift.

Freshman Aurelia Hall (Milford, Ohio, Ursuline Academy) and senior Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) claimed individual wins at No. 6 and No. 1, respectively. Hall was the first to finish out of the singles competitions with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Therese Bailargeon. In the last match of the evening, Overlingas battled back from a 4-6 first set loss, winning the second set 7-6 (7-2) and the tiebreaker set 10-6 against Jordan Beltavski. 

Up next:
Westminster continues PAC play Thursday against Thiel at the Tomcat Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
