Barr nets game-winner at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y.--Freshman Madeline Barr (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) broke a scoreless deadlock in the 74th minute to help the Westminster women's soccer team secure a 1-0 victory at Buffalo State Saturday afternoon.

The Titans improved to 3-0-1, marking the program's best start since winning its first eight matches of the 2023 season. Saturday's win snapped a three-match losing streak to Buffalo State.

The goal was the first of Barr's career.

Prior to Barr's game-winner, the Titans generated a corner kick and shots by sophomore Autum Fichter (North Canton, Ohio, Hoover), junior Brooke Galcik (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) and Barr during a four-minute stretch. Freshman Amelia Brose (Houston, Pa., Chartiers-Houston) added a shot on goal in the 85th minute. Westminster withstood a late second half stretch in which Buffalo State created four attacking actions without scoring.

Senior Emily Codere (Shelton, Conn., Shelton) made a career-high nine saves in the shutout, her third this season. She stopped six shots in the second half.

Buffalo State outshot Westminster 19-8 and had a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Bengals had five corner kicks to Westminster's one.
