Westminster women dealt overtime loss by Allegheny

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Westminster suffered a 55-52 overtime loss to visiting Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Allegheny Wednesday evening at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. 

Wednesday was Westminster's first overtime game since Feb. 19, 2020, a 79-76 loss at Grove City. 

Freshman Bella Calcamuggio (Sylvania, Ohio, Notre Dame) had a career-high 15 points for the Titans. She added seven rebounds and five assists. Junior Grace Cano (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) and sophomore Maddie Syka (Darlington, Pa., Lincoln Park) each finished with a double-double. Cano totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds while Skya had 13 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. The double-double was Cano's second this season. Wednesday was Syka's first double-double of her career. 

Isabella Antonacci led three double digit scorers for Allegheny (10-10, 7-4 PAC), finishing with 16 points and eight boards. Allegheny and Grove City are currently tied atop the PAC North standings. 

Tied 47-all after four quarters, the Gators stretched their overtime lead to five, 54-49, after Jess Bickert split a pair of free throws with 24 seconds remaining. Calcamuggio buried a three-pointer as time expired.

Westminster (7-13, 4-7 PAC) finished with a season-high 53 rebounds Wednesday.

Westminster will travel to W&J Saturday. Tipoff from inside the Salvitti Family Gymnasium is set for 1 p.m.
