Titans win third straight, beat Saint Vincent 40-18

LATROBE, Pa.---The Westminster football team secured a commanding 40-18 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Saint Vincent Saturday afternoon at Chuck Noll Field. The Titans racked up a season-high 515 yards of total offense, including a season-best 342 yards on the ground.

Westminster improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the league. Saint Vincent fell to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the PAC.

Saturday was Westminster's second-straight game with 500-plus yards of total offense: the Titans finished with 507 yards in their 54-23 win over Saint Francis on Oct. 24.

Senior Jayveerh White (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) ran for a season-high 185 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 13 carries. He broke loose for a 90-yard scoring run with 5:23 to go in the first half to push the Titans' lead to 14-3. It was his second scoring run of at least 90 yards this season: he had a program-record 98 yard touchdown run in a 36-29 loss to Case Western Reserve on Oct. 3. White also scored on a 10-yard run early in the fourth to stretch the lead to 34-10.

White is Westminster's first player with 100-plus yards in five consecutive games since Scott Froehlich put together a seven-game stretch during the 2002 season.

Junior Sean O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) rushed nine times for a season-high 89 yards and scored the first receiving touchdown of his career on a 53-yard catch-and-run from sophomore Quentin Goode (Aliquippa, Pa., Aliquippa). He also went 4-of-4 passing for 41 yards. Goode finished 10-of-20 passing for 132 yards and a touchdown. He opened the scoring Saturday with a 38-yard touchdown run on Westminster's fourth play from scrimmage.

Sophomore Brady Prohovic (Greensburg, Pa., Latrobe) scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 26-yard run with just over three minutes to play. He finished with three carries for 30 yards. Sophomore Lawrence Grayson (Washington, D.C., Paul Laurence Dunbar) hauled in four catches for 56 yards. Freshman Qui-Darwin Cotton (Ferris, Texas, Ferris) caught four passes for 20 yards while junior Simeir Wade (Farrell, Pa., Farrell) had three catches for 30 yards.

Leading 21-3 with just over three minutes left in the second quarter, senior Deshaun McBryde (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) forced a James Reyer fumble, which was corralled by junior Lamont Austin (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) and returned three yards for a touchdown. It was the third defensive score of his career. Austin finished with five tackles (3 solo) and an interception.

Sophomores Devin Mila (Davie, Fla., University School) and Kai West (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) had nine tackles apiece. Sophomore Rocco DiFlorio (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) finished with eight tackles and a tackle for loss while McBryde made six stops and added a tackle for loss. Freshman Ashton Allison's (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) second quarter sack of Jake Phillips upped his second total to 4.5.
