Women's tennis clipped at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's team suffered a 4-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss at Saint Vincent Monday afternoon. 

Westminster fell to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the PAC. Saint Vincent improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. 

Westminster secured the first point of the match with a pair of wins during the double's session. Senior Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) and freshman Megan Blasko (Mercer, Pa., Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) scored a 6-4 win over Carolina Walters and Emily Pierce at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, junior Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and senior Grace Askey (Dubois, Pa., Jeff Tech) cruised to a 6-1 win over Rachel Zgurich and Sydney McWreath.

With a forfeit at No. 6 singles, Saint Vincent tied the match 1-1. Saint Vincent won at No. 1 singles before Overlingas defeated Zgurich 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Blasko won her No. 3 singles match against Pierce, 6-4, 6-2. After Westminster jumped out to a 3-2 lead, Saint Vincent rallied with victories at No. 4 and 5 singles to secure the conference win.
