Westminster wins a pair in Latrobe

LATROBE, Pa.-The Westminster College women's volleyball team concluded play at Saint Vincent's Bearcat Invitational Saturday with a five-set win over RIT and a 3-0 win over Carlow. 

Westminster won 25-18, 17-25, 31-29, 23-25 and 15-9 against RIT before defeating Carlow 25-19, 25-20, 25-15. The Titans are now 3-1 this season. 

Senior outside hitter Rachel LaSalvia (Columbus, Pa., Corry) was named to the all-tournament team.

LaSalvia led the charge against RIT, finishing with a 17-kill, 16 dig double-double. The 17 kills were a career high. LaSalvia had three kills in the pivotal fifth set. Freshman outside hitter Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) registered an 11-kill, 22 dig double-double while senior middle hitter Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) added 10 kills and five digs. Senior setter Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) and junior setter Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) had 21 assists apiece. Nardone added 10 digs while Davis finished with five. Freshman libero Halle Albers (Corry, Pa., Corry) finished with 16 digs. 

Sofia Leon had 16 kills and 23 digs for RIT. 

Westminster 3, Carlow 0
Anthony hit .320 against Carlow, finishing with 10 kills on 25 attempts. Senior middle hitter Jamie Robertson (Los Angeles, Calif., Palisades Charter) added eight kills and three blocks. Nardone had 20 assists, eight digs and three service aces while Davis totaled 11 assists and three digs. Junior outside hitter Zoie Reid (Salem, Ohio, Salem) totaled 13 digs while junior libero Meredith Hart (New Waterford, Ohio, Crestview) added 11. 

Westminster hit a combined .282 in the three-set win. 

Carlow's Rebecca Hess finished with 12 kills and 20 digs. 

Next:
Westminster will take on Earlham next Friday at Case Western Reserve's Invitational. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
