Westminster falls at Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa.--The Westminster College baseball program suffered a 12-5 loss at Mount Aloysius College Tuesday afternoon. 

The game was called with two outs in the bottom of the seventh due to severe weather warnings in the greater Pittsburgh area. 

Mount Aloysius, winners of three straight, improved to 26-10. Westminster fell to 16-20.

Freshman designated hitter Nicholas Parrotto (Mars, Pa., Seneca Valley) went 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot. It was the first multi-hit game of his career. Senior leftfielder Chris Davis (San Francisco, Calif., Stuart Hall) was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBIs. 

Sophomore right-hander Jon Albers (Corry, Pa., Corry) fell to 1-4 with the loss, giving up six runs (5 earned) on six hits with a walk and a strikeout in 3.0 innings. Junior right-hander Tyler Staub (Edinburg, Pa., Union) threw 2.1 innings in relief of Albers and allowed five runs (3 earned) on six hits with two walks and a strikeout. Sophomore right-hander Nick Magnifico (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) and freshman right-hander Brandon Roher (Trafford, Pa., Penn-Trafford) each worked two-thirds of an inning. 

Troy Misiura upped his record to 5-1 this season with the win. He gave up five runs (5 earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Brandon Cook went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He drove in a pair of runs and scored four times. His solo home run in the home half of the fourth extended the Mount Aloysius lead to 7-0.

Westminster is scheduled to travel to Erie Thursday to face Penn State Behrend. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
