Titans win at Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio--The Westminster College men's lacrosse program rolled to a 24-7 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory at Franciscan University Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster improved to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the PAC. Franciscan fell to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play. 

Graduate midfielder Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, Md., Loyola Blakefield) finished with five goals, two assists and one ground ball. Junior midfielder Kyler Nigliazzo (Montgomery, Texas, Magnolia West) finished with four goals, one assist and four ground balls. Senior midfielder Gavin Jones (Henrico, Va., Douglas S. Freeman) and freshman attacker Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) each finished with two goals and two assists. A total of 13 Westminster players scored in the victory. 

Senior long-stick Brody McGuinness (Heber City, Utah, Wasatch) had six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Junior short-stick Jahiem Hawkins (Huntington Station, N.Y., Huntington) finished with an assist, five ground balls and two caused turnovers while freshman short-stick Talan Hill-Ressler (Gibsonia, Pa., Pine-Richland) posted a career-high five ground balls and one caused turnover. 

Westminster outshot Franciscan 67-34, putting 40 shots on goal. The Titans went 21-of-25 on clears and won 19-of-35 faceoffs.

Westminster hosts Penn College Wednesday. The opening faceoff from the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.
