Westminster suffers league loss at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College women's lacrosse program suffered a 14-5 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) defeat to Grove City College Saturday afternoon at Don Lyle Field.

Grove City improved to 5-5 overall and 4-0 in the PAC. Westminster fell to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Junior attacker Julia Ravazza (Twain Harte, Calif., Dublin) had one goal, two assists and one ground ball. Junior attacker Chloe Courinos (Beaver Falls, Pa., Blackhawk) had one goal, one assist and three ground balls. Junior attacker Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell), junior midfielder Michaela Neelin (Henrietta, N.Y., Rush Henrietta) and freshman midfielder Allyssa Anstis (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) each scored a goal. 

Junior defender Morgan Reidy (Elmira, N.Y., Elmira) finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior defender Isabella Cespedes (Merrick, N.Y., Sanford H. Calhoun) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore Falyn Snyder (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air) made 12 saves and added five ground balls. 

Abby Roetering scored the game's first two goals to help Grove City to a 7-3 halftime lead. Westminster was held to just two second half scores: Ravazza with just under 11 minutes to go in the third and Wenzel off of a Courinos assist with under six-and-a-half to go in the third. 

Grove City outshot Westminster 33-19 and put 26 of its shots on goal. The Titans committed a season-high 25 turnovers Saturday. 

Roetering and Jess Robinette each had three goals for Grove City. Elyse Kiggins made nine saves and had six ground balls.

Westminster travels to Franciscan University Wednesday. The opening draw from Trinity Health System Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
