Five players score in win at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa.--Five players scored goals for the Westminster College women's soccer program in its 5-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Geneva College Saturday afternoon at Reeves Field. Senior midfielder Natalie Vilchek (West Newton, Pa., Yough) had a goal and assist for her first three-point match since Westminster's 9-1 victory at Pitt-Bradford on Sept. 6, 2023. 

It was Vilchek's fourth career three-point match. 

Westminster improved its record to 3-5 overall and is now 2-0 in league play. It was Westminster's 12th-straight win in its all-time series with Geneva.

Westminster on the board with Vilchek's goal in the 24th minute. Senior forward Lydia Ohm (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Hills) scored her second goal in as many games in the 27th minute, this time off a Vilchek assist. Senior forward Allie Augustine (Cortland, Ohio, Lakeview) gave Westminster a 3-0 lead in the 39th minute. It was Augustine's second goal this season and 20th of her career.

Sophomore midfielder Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville) netted her second goal of the year in the 60th minute to push the lead to 4-0 before Olivia Anson's score in the 66th minute cut Geneva's deficit to 4-1. Junior midfielder Ashley Horvath (Houston, Pa., Charters-Houston) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 74th minute. Senior forward Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) assisted on the Ashley Horvath score. It was her first assist this season.

Westminster outshot Geneva 22-9 and held a 9--4 edge in shots on goal. Westminster took eight of the match's 12 corners, including six in the opening half. 

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) made one save in 76 minutes. Senior Lauren Gross (Lewisburg, Pa., Lewisburg) stopped a pair of shots in 14 minutes. 

Next up
Westminster hosts Franciscan University Friday at 5 p.m. at the UPMC Sports Complex. The soccer programs are teaming up to host an Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Awareness Day next Friday.
