Westminster scores PAC win over Waynesburg in regular season finale

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's lacrosse program rolled to a 20-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Waynesburg University Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster improved to 5-10 overall and 4-5 in the PAC. Waynesburg fell to 1-16 overall and 0-9 in league play. 

Senior midfielder Nina Rascona (Somerset, Pa., Somerset) totaled four goals, three assists, three ground balls and one caused turnover. Sophomore midfielder Emma Brazier (Northport, N.Y., Northport) finished with six goals, one assist, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and career-high 10 draw controls. Brazier recorded the 100th goal of her career with 14 minutes left in the second.

Senior midfielder Samantha Reed (Zionsville, Pa., Emmaus) posted two goals, one assist, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls. Sophomore attack Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell) finished with three goals, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman attack Khloe Huba (Butler, Pa., Butler) had two goals and one assist. 

Sophomore defender Isabella Cespedes (Merrick, N.Y., Sanford H. Calhoun) finished with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Sophomore defender Morgan Reidy (Pine City, N.Y., Elmira) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Amelia Mason (White Lake, Minn., Lakeland) earned her second win of the season, allowing one goal and making seven saves. 

Westminster outscored Waynesburg 9-1 in the first quarter. Westminster went on to score five in the second quarter and three in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. 

Westminster outshot Waynesburg 40-14 and finished with a 29-8 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster went 14-of-19 on clear attempts. 

Westminster, the No. 6 seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament, will travel to No. 3 Grove City College on Tuesday. The opening draw control at Don Lyle Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.
