Westminster earns PAC win over Bethany on Senior Day

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's lacrosse program registered 17-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over Bethany College on Senior Recognition Day Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster improved to 4-9 overall and 3-4 in the PAC. Bethany fell to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in league play. 

Sophomore midfielder Emma Brazier (Northport, N.Y., Northport) finished with five goals, four assists, one ground ball, one caused turnover and three draw controls. Brazier recorded her 100th career point on the first goal of the game. Senior midfielder Nina Rascona (Somerset, Pa., Somerset) totaled four goals, three assists, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls. She secured her 100th career ground ball with 8:30 left in the first period. Senior midfielder Samantha Reed (Zionsville, Pa., Emmaus) posted five goals, one assist, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and five draw controls. 

Freshman attack Falyn Snyder (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air) had one goal, one assist, four ground balls and one caused turnover. Sophomore defender Isabella Cespedes (Merrick, N.Y., Sanford H. Calhoun) finished with a goal, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior goalkeeper Jade Hromanik (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) finished with 10 saves, one ground ball and one caused turnover. 

Westminster held a 2-0 lead after the first quarter and outscored Bethany 6-1 in the second to carry an 8-1 lead at halftime. Westminster scored six unanswered goals in the third and went into the fourth quarter up 14-1. The Titans scored three fourth quarter goals.  

Westminster outshot Bethany 40-15 and finished with a 29-12 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster went 17-of-20 on clear attempts and had a 13-8 edge on draw controls. 

Westminster will host Grove City College Wednesday. The opening draw control is scheduled for 5 p.m.
