Westminster tops Thiel on Senior Day

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's tennis team won 8-1 against Thiel College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match Monday afternoon. 

Westminster improved to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in PAC play. Thiel fell to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the league. 

Westminster started off 2-1 after doubles. Senior Noah Sofran (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) and sophomore Ryan Crissman (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) had an 8-3 win at No. 1 while freshman Colin Bork (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and sophomore Collin Fabich (Erie, Pa., Harbor Creek) won 8-1 at No. 3. 

Sofran scored a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and junior Dylan Weiss (South Park, Pa., South Park) had a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Freshman Jacob Timonere (Ashtabula, Ohio, St. John) won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and Crissman earned a 6-1 first set win before his opponent at No. 4 singles retired in the second. Bork had a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles while Fabich scored a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. 

Westminster travels to the Tennis Courts at Robertson to take on Allegheny College Tuesday. The match is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
