Titans roll to win at La Roche

PITTSBURGH--Westminster College sophomore midfielder Emma Brazier (Northport, N.Y. | Northport) scored a career-high seven goals in Saturday's 17-6 victory over La Roche University at the Baierl Athletic Complex. 

Westminster improved to 1-2 with the win. La Roche fell to 1-2. 

Brazier paced the Titans with seven goals. She added five draw controls and was 1-for-1 on free-position shots. Freshman attack Khloe Huba (Butler, Pa., Butler) totaled five goals, scoring her first collegiate goal at the start of the second quarter. Sophomore attack Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell) had five points on three goals and two assists. She picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover. 

Senior midfielder Nina Rascona (Somerset, Pa., Somerset) finished with three points on one goal and a pair of assists. She added a ground ball, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Rascona scored a free position goal with under nine minutes to go in the first quarter. Senior midfielder Samantha Reed (Zionsville, Pa., Emmaus) scored a goal and had eight draw controls. Freshman attack Morgan Clark (Bridgeville, Pa., South Fayette) totaled two points on two assists and added ground ball. Freshman defender Emma Baldwin (Seven Fields, Pa., North Catholic) finished with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Sophomore defender Morgan Reidy (Pine City, N.Y., Elmira) registered three ground balls. 

Freshman Amelia Mason (White Lake, Minn., Lakeland) made three saves to secure her first career win in net. She added four ground balls. 

Westminster grabbed a 5-0 lead just over six minutes into the first quarter. Leading 7-2 going into the second, the Titans rattled off six-straight goals to carry a 13-2 lead into halftime. Brazier scored the final goal of the third quarter to push Westminster's lead to 10, 14-4, and closed out the game by netting the final two goals, including a woman-up goal with under four minutes to go in regulation.

Westminster finished with a 33-14 advantage in shots and had a 27-9 edge in shots on goal. The Titans registered a combined 17 draw controls to La Roche's seven.  

Westminster will travel to Marietta College Wednesday. The opening draw at Marietta Field is scheduled for 5 p.m.
