Westminster earns win over Penn State Shenango

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's basketball team scored a 75-61 victory over Penn State Shenango on the second and final day of the Buzz Ridl Classic Saturday afternoon.

Established in 1991 and now in its 33rd year, the Buzz Ridl Classic was created to honor, promote and preserve the indelible legacy and impact on the sport of basketball by former Westminster coach and administrator, Charles "Buzz" Ridl.

Westminster had three players finish in double figures. Freshman forward Michael Burbach (West Farmington, Ohio, Bristol) paced the Titans with a career-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He added nine rebounds and a pair of steals. Burbach was named a Buzz Ridl Classic All-Tournament choice after Saturday's win. Sophomore guard Drew Weir (Salem, Ohio, Salem) had 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting in 22 reserve minutes while junior guard Mick Hergenrother (Canfield, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore guard Jaxon Hendershott (Salem, Ohio, West Branch) and freshman guard Christian Ito (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) had eight points apiece. Ito knocked down back-to-back three-pointers and converted a tough fast break layup with 13 minutes left in the second half that stretched Westminster's lead to eight, 54-46. Sophomore guard Justin Wypasek (Strongsville, Ohio, Strongsville) totaled seven points, six rebounds and four assists.

Westminster's bench outscored Shenango's bench 33-10 and finished with 22 points off 17 Lions' turnovers.
