Titans win at home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program defeated Allegheny College 166-50 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Westminster Natatorium. 

Westminster improved to 1-2 in dual meets this year. Allegheny fell to 2-4. 

Freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) won a pair of races Saturday: the 100 breast with a time of 1 minute, 04.85 seconds and the 200 free (2:00.25). He also finished second in the 100 free (51.47). Senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) registered first-place finishes in the 100 back (58.25) and the 400 IM (4:42.73). Freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) also won twice: the 50 free (23.06) and the 500 (5:15.52). 

Sophomore Colton Super (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley) won on both the 1-meter board (182.55) and the 3-meter board (203.45).

Senior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) won the 200 fly (2:20.77) and finished second in the 100 fly (1:00.27), senior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) won the 200 breast (2:28.76) while senior Steel Boyer (Mohrsville, Pa., Schuylkill Valley) won the 200 back (2:25.85). Senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) won the 1650 (18:46.72). 

Senior Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin) posted second-place finishes in the 200 free (2:03.33) and the 200 back (2:31.76) while freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) was second in the 100 back (1:04.24) and  in the 1650 (20:01.17). Senior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) was second in the 200 fly (2:28.30)

Westminster's "A" relay won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.89. Members of the relay included Hayne Webster, Benedict, Cory Webster and Mickle. The Titans' "A" relay was second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.03. Katigbak, Schohn, Bumbach and Duda made up the 200 free relay squad. 

Next Saturday Westminster will travel Erie to take on Penn State Behrend. The meet inside the Junker Center Pool is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
