Westminster earns season sweep at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa.--Westminster College fifth-year Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) posted her second double-double of the season Saturday afternoon in an 83-41 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Thiel College at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.

Westminster snapped a two-game losing streak with Saturday's win and improved to 11-8 overall and 9-6 in league play. Thiel fell to 0-20 overall and 0-15 in the PAC. 

Murrio finished with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double. She also tied her season high with seven assists. Murrio went 5-of-5 from the floor. Senior Caitlyn Condoleon (Warren, Ohio, Warren JFK) totaled 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting while freshman Grace Cano (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) finished with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting and tied her career high with seven rebounds. Fifth-year Lindsay Bell (Youngstown, Ohio, Ursuline) and senior Katie Fitzpatrick (Cumberland Center, Maine, Greely) both finished with eight points and five rebounds. Bell went 4-of-6 from the floor while Fitzpatrick went 4-of-7. Graduate student Camden Hergenrother (Salem, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) had seven points, two rebounds and six assists while freshman Reagan Courter (Wapakoneta, Ohio, Wapakoneta) chipped in with seven points. 

Twelve players scored for the Titans in the victory Saturday.

Jensen Stehlik had 10 points and seven rebounds for Thiel. Josie Lewis finished with 10 points and three assists.

The Titans led 45-14 at the break. Murrio totaled 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the first half while Fitzpatrick added eight first half points. Westminster shot 54.1 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes. 

Westminster's 57 rebounds are the second-most this season. The Titans finished shooting 48.0 percent (36-75) from the floor and made 5-of-14 (.357) three-point field goal attempts. The Titans' bench outscored the Tomcats' reserves 39-9. 

Westminster's combined 23 assists Saturday tied its season high -- the Titans also had 23 assists in an 81-24 home win against Thiel on Dec. 2. 

Westminster will travel to Allegheny College Wednesday. Tipoff at the David V. Wise Center in Meadville is scheduled for 6 p.m.
