Titans score a pair of shutouts Friday

ERIE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball team cruised to a pair of shutouts Friday evening against Alfred State University and Utica University at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. 

Westminster won against Alfred State 25-14, 25-17 and 25-19 before defeating Utica 25-12, 25-19 and 25-16.

Westminster is 5-0 this season, winning all five matches in straight sets. Alfred State fell to 2-2 while Utica dropped to 3-3. 

The Titans won six-straight to start the 2021 season. 

Sophomore Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) totaled a season-high 12 kills and hit .348 against Alfred State. She added seven digs. Seniors Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) and Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, Pa., Ellwood City) each had five kills. Lampus added 24 digs while Grinnen had a pair of blocks. Senior Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) totaled 12 assists and six digs while sophomore Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Ellwood City) finished with 10 assists, four digs and three service aces. Senior Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa., North Allegheny) registered 15 digs and three service aces. 

Brady paced the Titans with a match-high 10 kills against Utica. She also finished with eight digs. Lampus had eight kills and hit .389 while adding 11 digs and two service aces. Sophomore Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) posted seven kills and a pair of blocks while junior Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry) added six kills, two blocks and four digs. Nardone finished with 18 assists and nine digs while Daniels had 10 assist and a pair of digs. Duffy totaled 16 digs. 

Westminster closes its four-match weekend at Behrend's Junker Center Saturday. The Titans open with Fredonia at 1 p.m. and close with host Penn State Behrend at 3 p.m.
