Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Titans earn 6-1 win at Clarion

CLARION, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis team captured a 6-1 victory at Clarion University Thursday afternoon. 

Westminster improved to 2-1 with Thursday's win. Clarion fell to 0-1. 

Junior Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) partnered with sophomore Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) in a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Francisco also earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. 

Freshman Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and senior Caroline Fox (Acton, Calif., Vasquez) claimed a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Overlingas won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles while Fox rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 5 singles. Fox is 3-0 in singles action this season. 

Junior Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa., Villa Maria Academy) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.

Westminster hosts La Roche University Friday at 3:30 p.m.
