Titans lose to Behrend

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College baseball team suffered a 14-3 non-conference loss to Penn State Behrend Thursday evening. 

Westminster fell to 11-11 overall while Behrend improved to 7-10. 

Isaac Stouffer gave the visiting Lions a 3-0 lead in the top of the third with a three-run home run. Junior designated hitter Matthew Randza (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Blackhawk) delivered a two-run home run in the fifth to cut the deficit to one. It was his first home run of the season. 

Behrend broke the game open in the sixth, scoring seven runs on five hits and a pair of errors to stretch its lead to 10-2. The Lions added three runs in the top of the eighth and another in the ninth. 

Senior pinch hitter Frankie Manios (Warren, Ohio | Howland) doubled to left center in the bottom of the ninth to plate sophomore pinch runner Derek Beach (Titusville, Pa. | Titusville) for the Titans' third and final run of the game. 

Junior starter Timothy Lewis (West Middlesex, Pa. | Wilmington) took the loss, allowing three runs (3 earned) on four hits with a walk. Six players pitched for Westminster Thursday. 

Randza went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Graduate student right fielder Seth Schrader (Fredonia, N.Y. | Fredonia) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Sophomore third baseman Braeden Campbell (Glenshaw, Pa. | Shaler) went 2-for-3. 

Westminster will travel to Waynesburg University on Wednesday, April 12. The PAC doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
