Hubner scores six times in win over Mount Union

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Westminster College senior attack Nick Hubner (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Plum) scored a career-high six goals Saturday afternoon in an 11-8 victory over the University of Mount Union at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster improved to 1-3. Saturday was the first career win for first-year head coach Anthony Accardi. Mount Union fell to 1-3. 

Five men scored for Westminster. 

Senior midfielder Boyd Foster (Lincoln, R.I. | Lincoln) had one goal and three assists while junior attack Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, Md. | Loyola Blakefield) finished with two goals and one assist. Senior attack Ryan Greer (Cranberry Township, Pa. | Seneca Valley) had one goal and one assist. Junior attack Payton Waight (Ithaca, N.Y. | Ithaca) added one goal. Sophomore Gavin Jones (Henrico, Va., Douglas S. Freeman) and freshman midfielder Jahiem Hawkins (Huntington Station, N.Y. | Huntington) both had assists. 

Freshman goalkeeper Brendan Siwik (Aldie, Va. | John Champe) made 10 saves. 

Junior Dino Mario D'Alesio II (Youngstown, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) won 14-of-23 faceoffs and had a game-high 10 ground balls. Jones had five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Brody McGuinness (Heber City, Utah | Wasatch) and Greer both had three ground balls. 

Logan Gebhart and Connor Addison had two goals apiece for Mount Union. 

Hubner netted his first goal off of a Foster assist with under 14 minutes to play in the first period. Tied at 1-1, Westminster rattled off three-straight goals in a 102-second span to go up 4-1. Hubner, Waight and Sentz scored for the Titans. 

Hubner scored twice in the second period to help Westminster take a 7-3 lead into halftime. He added two more scores in the third, stretching the Titans' lead to six, 11-5, going into the fourth period. 

Mount Union outscored Westminster 3-0 in the fourth. 

The Titans finished with a 56-35 advantage in shots and a 22-17 edge in shots on goal. 

Westminster will travel to SUNY Brockport on Saturday, March 11. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
