Titans drop Florida opener

AUBURNDALE, Fla.--The Westminster College baseball team dropped its Spring Break opener at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Sunday afternoon, falling to Ramapo College of New Jersey 5-0. 

Ramapo improved to 3-1 this season while Westminster fell to 3-3.


Three Ramapo pitchers combined for Sunday's no-hitter. Nick Danbrowney earned the victory, striking out 11 in 7.0 innings. Dominick Ciani struck out two in the eighth and James Pazdera had one strikeout in the ninth. 

Sophomore starter Jake Vitale (New Castle, Pa. | Union) fell to 1-2, allowing four runs (3 earned) on six hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in 5.0 innings. Junior Kolton Banfi (Harrisville, Pa. | Franklin) allowed one run (1 earned) on three hits with a strikeout and a walk in 3.0 innings of relief.

The Roadrunners struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the second and added two more on Matt Lalomia's two-run home run in the fifth. Ramapo scratched out its final run in the eighth inning. 

Monday, Westminster will take on Bowdoin College at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park. The doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
