PITTSBURGH--The Westminster College men's basketball program was dealt a 96-83 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss Saturday afternoon at Chatham University.

Chatham, winners of five straight, ran its overall record to 7-3 and its league mark to 5-2. Westminster fell to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in PAC play.

Sophomore Quincy Jones (Youngstown, Ohio, Chaney) sparked the Westminster offense, scoring a career-high 24 points and adding four rebounds. He went 11-of-19 from the floor and hit both of his free throw attempts. Jones has eclipsed 20 points five times this year, scoring 21 or more points in the last three straight. He scored 18 of his 24 points in the first half Saturday on 8-of-13 shooting. Sophomore Trey DePietro (Boardman, Ohio, Boardman) finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, going 6-of-7 from the floor and 8-of-12 from the free throw line. Senior Reese Leone (Beloit, Ohio, West Branch) had 16 points, three rebounds and three assists. Senior Andrew Clark (New Middletown, Ohio, Springfield Local) finished with nine points and five rebounds.

Simon Boyer led five Chatham players in double figures with 19 points. Elijah Sutton added 16.

Leone's layup with 15 minutes to go in the first pushed Westminster ahead by five, 13-8. Isaiah Smith hit a three-pointer with 13:15 to play that put Chatham in front by two, 19-17, and was followed by an 8-1 spurt that extended the Cougars' lead to nine, 27-18. Jones managed to cut the deficit to seven, 31-24, with just over six minutes remaining but Chatham outscored Westminster 20-12 over the remaining 5:43 to go into the half up 15, 51-36. Chatham knocked down seven of its 11 three-point field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes while the Cougars' bench outscored the Titans' reserves 20-2 in the first half.

Blaine Gartley scored back-to-back buckets to give Chatham an 18-point lead, 60-42, three minutes into the second. Sophomore Jaxon Hendershott (Salem, Ohio, West Branch) hit a three-pointer to cap a 10-4 run for Westminster with just over five minutes left in regulation to pull the Titans back to within 11, 82-71, but five-straight Chatham points grew its lead to 16, 87-71. Boyer and Diaun Pinkett each made a pair of free throws with under a minute to play to help secure the 13-point win.

Westminster shot 50.8 percent from the field and went 4-of-13 (.308) from three-point range. The Titans went 17-of-21 (.810) from the free throw line. Chatham shot at a 54.1 percent clip (33-61) from the floor and 47.4 percent (9-19) from the three-point line.
