Four named All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- The Westminster College women's soccer program had four players named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-Region VII Teams Tuesday morning.

Sophomore Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) was named first team as a goalkeeper. Twice named First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), she was a two-time PAC Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 18, 25) last fall. Murphy's .707 goals-against average (GAA) and .876 save percentage ranked second. Her 78 saves ranked fourth in the league. Murphy had three shutouts (4 combined shutouts) this fall.

Senior Sophia Galietta (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) was named second team as a defender. Named the PAC Defensive Player of the Year on Nov. 7, Galietta earned First Team All-PAC for the second time in her career (2022). A Three-time All-PAC selection (2nd team, 2021), she was honored as the PAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4. Galietta was a part of Westminster's defensive backline that registered seven shutouts this season. She made starts in all 57 career matches played and helped the program register 31 shutouts (18 in PAC play) between 2020-23 by manning the backline. She also earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region following Westminster's title run in 2022.

Junior Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) and freshman Chloe LaRosa (Tyrone, Pa., Tyrone) were both honored as third team forwards.

Horvath, a three-time All-PAC selection, was named to the second team this fall after being recognized as an honorable mention last year and capturing first team honors in 2021. She finished the fall third in the PAC in assists (10), fourth in points (34) and fifth in goals (12). Horvath had multiple goals in three matches this fall, including a seven-point outing (3G, 1A) in non-conference road win at Pitt-Bradford. Through 52 career matches (48 starts), she has 78 career points on 28 goals and 22 assists.

LaRosa, the 2023 PAC Newcomer of the Year, was also named a First Team All-PAC selection. She claimed PAC Newcomer of the Week honors on Sept. 11, was the PAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18 and the United Soccer Coaches Division III Women's Soccer Player of the Week award on Sept. 20. LaRosa's 16 goals are the third-most among freshmen Division III players this season and her seven game-winning goals lead the conference. She finished the year with multiple goals scored in four matches, including a pair of hat tricks in non-conference wins over Penn State Altoona and Pitt-Bradford.

Westminster posted an 8-2 PAC record and earned the No. 2 seed in this year's PAC Championship Tournament, losing to No. 6 Franciscan 2-1 in the semifinal round. The Titans finished their season 14-4.
