Carthage shot 55 percent from the floor and had a 45-30 edge on the glass.

Leading by two, 14-12, with 13 minutes left in the first half, sophomore Jaxon Hendershott (Salem, Ohio, West Branch) capped a 10-0 run with a three-pointer to give the Titans a 24-12 lead with just under 10 to go. Fueled by a 9-0 run, Carthage pulled to within three, 24-21, before a Lamb three-pointer evened the game at 26-26 with 5:37 left in the half. The Firebirds stretched their lead to 10, 38-28, and headed into the break up nine, 42-33.

Lamb had 12 points in the first 20 minutes while Campbell added six points and seven rebounds. Jones scored eight of his 11 in the first half.

Carthage's lead swelled to 16, 50-34, before DePietro's layup cut the deficit to nine, 55-46, with just under 14 minutes to go. A 12-5 scoring surge extended the Firebird's lead to 16, 75-59, with five left in regulation.
