Win streak snapped by Allegheny

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) decision to defending league champion Allegheny Friday afternoon. 

Allegheny, winners of eight straight, improved to 8-1 overall and 7-0 in the PAC. Westminster had its five-match win streak snapped by the Gators, falling to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in league play.

The Titans earned victories in two three doubles matches. Junior Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and sophomore Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) improved to 6-1 in the PAC at No. 1 doubles with an 8-6 win over Sabrina Rodriguez and Maria Lounder. Junior Taylor Dlugozima (Volant, Pa., Wilmington) and freshman Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) pushed their record to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the PAC with an 8-6 victory over Lauren Passarelli and Omega Ba

Overlingas secured Westminster's lone singles win, earning a 2-6, 6-4, 10-2 win over Noelle Kidd at No. 5. Overlingas has won 10-straight singles matches and is 11-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

Westminster will travel to Franciscan Wednesday. Matches are scheduled to begin at the Belleview Tennis Courts at 4 p.m.
