Westminster sinks Wells, La Roche

PITTSBURGH--The Westminster College women's volleyball team claimed a pair of non-conference wins Saturday at La Roche's Kerr Fitness Center. 

Westminster earned a four-set win over Wells before taking down host La Roche in five. The Titans, winners of three straight, improved to 16-11. 

The Titans rebounded from a first set loss against Wells (25-20) to secure the next three (25-10, 25-14, 25-17). Senior Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) hit .300 with 13 kills, five digs and three blocks. Junior Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry) added 10 kills and six digs. Senior Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, Pa., Ellwood City) hit .462 with six kills, three service aces and a pair of digs while sophomore Jamie Robertson (Lake Balboa, Calif., Palisades Charter) hit .385 with six kills, two blocks and three digs. Senior Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa., North Allegheny) went over 25 digs for the ninth time this season, finishing with a match-high 26 to go along with 10 assists and a pair of service aces. Classmate Claire Tobin (Battlecreek, Mich., Lakeview) added 15 digs and a service ace. Senior Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) finished with a 21-assist, 10-dig double-double, her seventh of the year. Sophomore Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Ellwood City) had 10 assists, two service aces and seven digs. 

The victory over La Roche (25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 22-25, 15-13) was Westminster's second five-set win this season. The Titans earned a 3-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over visiting Grove City on Oct. 10. Thirteen players appeared against the Redhawks. 

Freshman Olivia Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) led the Titans with a career-high 14 kills and career-best 22 digs. Senior Macy Stoddard (Erie, Pa., Harbor Creek) had a career-high 13 kills and season-high 18 digs while sophomore Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) tied her career high with seven kills while adding six assists and three service aces. Freshman Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) finished with career highs in assists (22) and digs (14). Classmate Lily Atwood (Kittanning, Pa., Armstrong) also posted career highs in assists (17) and digs (10). Freshman Maggie Shadle (Marion Center, Pa., Marion Center) finished with a career-high 14 digs. 

Westminster will travel to conference rival Geneva Wednesday. First serve inside Metheny Fieldhouse is scheduled for 7 p.m.
