Callahan scores twice in victory over Bethany

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Westminster College junior Brendan Callahan (Bensalem, Pa., Bensalem) scored a pair of goals Wednesday night in the Titans' 3-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) shutout win over visiting Bethany at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster finished its season 5-8-4 overall and 2-7-1 in the league. 

All three goals came in the first half. Callahan opened the scoring in the sixth minute. His first goal was assisted by senior Jacob Steinbeck (Windber, Pa., Windber). Steinbeck netted a goal in the 24th minute to give Westminster a 2-0 lead. Junior Connor Schmidt (Evans City, Pa., Seneca Valley) had an assist on Steinbeck's goal. Callahan's second goal came off of a Schmidt assist with 12 seconds left in the first half. 

Wednesday was Callahan's first multi-goal match of his career. Schmidt finished the season with a team-best 15 points on five goals and five assists. 

Graduate student Jad Jadallah (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) finished with three saves in the shutout, his third of the season and ninth of his career. He finished his career with 59 straight starts in goal. Jadallah went 31-25-8 with a career goals-against average of 1.58. 

Bethany finished with an 11-10 edge in shots while Westminster took five shots on goal to Bethany's three. The Bison posted a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
