Westminster men drop conference tilt at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College men's basketball team dropped a 64-55 decision at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Grove City College Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster (11-8, 9-5 PAC) shot a season-low 31.3 percent (20-64) from the field. The Titans made 4-of-14 (28.6%) three-point attempts and went 11-of-20 (55.0%) from the free throw line. 

Freshman Trey DePietro (Boardman, Ohio | Boardman) fired in a game-high 17 points and added nine rebounds Westminster. Freshman Quincy Jones (Youngstown, Ohio, Chaney) and senior Justin Bofenkamp (Warren, Ohio | Warren JFK) each had eight points for the Titans. Senior Tyler James (Youngstown, Ohio | Warren JFK) chipped in with six points and nine rebounds. 

Chase Yarberough led Grove City (8-11, 6-8 PAC) with 15 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. 

Leading 27-24 at the half, Grove City stretched its lead to eight (34-26) two minutes into the second half. A DePietro layup at the 8:34 mark pulled the Titans to within one, 47-46. Grove City outscored Westminster 11-2 over the next three-plus minutes to go up by 10, 58-48. Jones' layup with just over a minute remaining cut the deficit to seven, 62-55, before Christian Suceveanu drilled a pair of free throws down the stretch to secure the nine-point league win. 

Grove City went 28-of-67 (41.8%) from the floor and finished with a 52-39 edge in rebounding. 

Westminster returns to conference action Wednesday at Waynesburg University. Tipoff at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse is scheduled for 7 p.m.
