Titans top the Fighting Scots in a 2-1 victory

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Connor Schmidt scored in the 82nd minute, snapping a 1-all stalemate, leading Westminster College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over The College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon.

 

Schmidt's score was set up by graduate student Marc Esqueda (San Bruno, Cali./Junipero Serra High). Schmidt (Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley High) is a sophomore midfielder for Westminster (2-2) and veteran Head Coach Girish Thakar.

 

Following a scoreless first half Westminster graduate student Tyler Caterino (Monessen, Pa./Monessen High) and Wooster's Elliot Miller traded goals. Miller's score knotted the count at 1-all in the 71st minute.

 

Wooster outshot Westminster, 18-10 (6-5 in shots on goal and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks).

 

Senior standout Jad Jadallah (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield High) made a handful of saves for the triumphant Titans.

 

Westminster will welcome Pitt-Bradford Thursday, Sept. 15 in its next outing.
