Women’s Basketball: Titans Conclude Historic Season

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster women's basketball team lost, 77-58, against Penn State Behrend on the road in the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University, Wednesday night.

"This team is special," said head coach Rosanne Scott. "They faced every challenge that came their way. We set our goals high before the season and worked together to take a step in the right direction for the program. They love and care about each other, and that makes the difference."

In the fourth quarter, Westminster (18-10) cut Penn State Behrend's (21-5) lead to single-digits (60-52) after junior Camden Hergenrother (Salem, OH / Cardinal Mooney) connected with a jumper. However, the Lions halted the Titans' comeback by scoring the next 10 points.

At intermission, Penn State Behrend held a 38-20 lead.

The Titans were led by junior Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood), who scored a team-high 17 points to go with three steals and three rebounds. Hergenrother registered 15 points, five boards, five assists, and three steals. Senior Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin) added 10 points and a career-best six steals. Junior Lindsay Bell (Youngstown, OH / Ursuline) chipped in with six points and a team-high six rebounds. First-year Emily Hess (Edinboro, PA / General McLane) tied a career-best with three takeaways.

Westminster concluded its season with an overall record of 18-10 and a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) record of 13-5. The Titans finished runner-up in the PAC Tournament with the number two seed, their first PAC title game appearance since 2009-10.
