Women’s Basketball: Titans Roll Past Bearcats, Hergenrother Scores Career-High

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster women's basketball team won, 74-58, at home against Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Wednesday night.

This marked the first time since the 2006-2007 season that the Titans swept the Bearcats in the season series.

"Locking down on the defensive end was the key for us," said head coach Rosanne Scott. "All these games are going to be close and that is something we can control and execute on that end. That is something we have been locking down on, especially, at the end of the year."

Westminster (13-7, 11-4 PAC) captured a 22-14 lead going into the second quarter. The Titans finished the first half on a 13-1 run, capped by a junior Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) free throw. Westminster led 44-25 at intermission. Junior Camden Hergenrother (Salem, OH / Cardinal Mooney) led the game with 17 points by halftime.

In the second half, the Titans maintained their double-digit lead and held Saint Vincent's (6-12, 5-9 PAC) offense at bay.

Hergenrother notched a career-best 26 points with three assists and a rebound. Murrio registered 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior Lindsay Bell Lindsay Bell (Youngstown, OH / Ursuline) recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 14 boards along with three steals (tying a career-high). Both first-year Emily Hess (Edinboro, PA / General McLane) and sophomore Mariah Vincent (Franklin, PA / Kennedy Catholic) tied career-bests in takeaways with three and two.

"I think I got it done offensively," said Hergenrother. "Credit to my teammates for helping me out with that. Like coach has said in the past any given night, anyone of us could step up."

Westminster have now obtained a five-game winning-streak.

The Titans return to the court Saturday, February 12 as they compete against Waynesburg on the road in a PAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
