Box Score NEW WILMINGTON, Pa – Westminster College women's volleyball team battled Geneva Wednesday night, but dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest, 3-2.
Geneva twice rallied from deficits, as Westminster won the first set, 25-15 and the third, 25-23; however Geneva garnered 25-23, 25-17 and 15-11 victories, including the decisive fifth set.
For Westminster (0-4 PAC, 2-17 overall), junior outside-hitter Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa./Freeport Area High) logged 15 kills, 18 digs and 3 serving aces; first-year middle-hitter Shelby Rambo recorded a 10-kill, 14-dig double-double; first-year Natalie Franke (Centerville, Pa./Uniontown High) finished with 7 kills; first-year setter Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City High) and first-year outside-hitter Charlotte Burgan (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon Area High) split 6 serving aces; junior middle-hitter Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, Pa./Ellwood City-Lincoln High) garnered 4 blocks and Burgan added 3 blocks; Nardone notched 22 assists and junior setter Rheanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory High) 19 assists, and junior Libero Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny High) 23 digs and 3 assists.
Geneva (1-1, 7-10) was led by Hope Shook (17 kills), Megan Veon (15 kills, 3 blocks), Ashley Monroe (20 assists), Maggie Townsend (28 digs, 9 assists), and Heather Seubert (21 digs).
Westminster will welcome Case Western Reserve University and Penn State Behrend for a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 8, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
